About

Manuja Waldia (b. 1992) is an artist renowned for evocative, surreal and cinematic visual narratives, that delve into her brown feminine identity, gaze and experience growing up in India. She has a timeless artistic voice that blends traditional techniques with contemporary sensibilities, with themes deeply rooted in her lived experience.

Formally trained as a visual designer, Manuja has collaborated with prestigious clients such as Sephora, Google, and Penguin Random House. Her award-winning work has been validated by global institutions like Forbes, Communication Arts, CNN and The Atlantic.

A desire for greater creative control and deep love for art history makes self-authored traditional oil painting her favourite mode of self expression.

Manuja's work is characterised by a vibrant palette and captivating details, drawing inspiration from her Indian family archives, pop culture, advertising, cinema, art history, and nature. This rich tapestry of influences invites viewers to engage with their own stories and emotions, creating a powerful dialogue through representation and beauty.
Currently based in Goa, Manuja is committed to a life dedicated to art, documenting her perspective and experience as a brown woman. Her work is an exploration of identity through image making and the intricate interplay of personal and collective narratives.
