King Lear 2
King Lear 2
King Lear goes insane with heartbreak upon banishing his youngest daughter Cordelia. His older daughters Goneril and Regan undermine his authority. Distraught at the betrayal, he leaves their houses to wander about during a great thunderstorm.
The three gems in his crown represent Goneril, Regan and Cordelia—red indicates the ungrateful and insolent elder daughters, while the white heart-shaped gem represents loyal and loving Cordelia.
King lear’s beard is a maze as he is caught up in his own head, and on a spiral unraveled by his offspring.
